Kristine Ortega, MS, LPCC:

I enjoy working with adolescence and young adults. I have experience working with clients who are dealing with symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, depression and social issues. I am the spouse of a veteran which has allowed me to work closely with the military population and establish an understanding of the levels of stress military life brings to all involved. Furthermore, being the daughter of Cuban immigrants provides me with insight on challenges of being bi-cultural. I believe that life brings many obstacles and sometimes though we might think we have it under control others around us may see it differently. I offer a judgement free safe environment to explore past, current and potential future experiences along with coping strategies to help alleviate negative symptoms.

Laura Flores, MA, LPC

Having a safe place to process thoughts and feelings is important. Whether you have experienced trauma, have been feeling depressed or anxious, are struggling with a relationship, making life transitions, or are seeking to gain self-awareness, I would be honored to work with you to create that space of healing and growth.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary. I believe that empathy and compassion are essential in the therapeutic relationship and have found that progress is best achieved when integrating both the heart and the mind. I enjoy couples counseling, working to bridge differences and strengthen relationships; I am certified in Prepare and Enrich premarital/relationship assessment. Additionally, I have experience working with families and individuals of all ages in areas of self-esteem, codependent relationships, boundaries, communication, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, grief, and loss.

While English is my only language, I am married to a first generation Latino which has allowed me to gain an understanding of the Latino culture. I’ve seen how it can be challenging to maintain one’s own cultural heritage and values while also trying to merge with the dominant culture. My personal experience has shown me how to navigate these differences in relationships while honoring the individual.

I would love to connect with you and support you in your journey!

Katie Almond, LPCC, MFTC

I am a compassionate, open-minded, and caring bilingual (English and Spanish) family therapist practicing in Denver, Colorado. I primarily work with children, couples, and families specializing in interpersonal relationships, trauma, and attachment issues. I was born in south Florida, raised in Cozumel, Mexico, and ultimately found myself relocating to the beautiful Rocky Mountains ten years ago. Before then I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Affairs with a concentration in Modern Languages from Florida State University in 2009. Upon relocating to Denver, I followed my passion for working with children and families by pursuing my Master of Arts degree in Counseling Couples and Families from the University of Colorado at Denver. As a family therapist I believe that we are all hardwired for connection. By taking a holistic, multi-systemic and multi-generational approach, we are better able to gain insight into what may be holding us back and stuck in negative patterns so that we may propel ourselves forward on a path towards healing, growth, and meaningful connection for ourselves, our families, and future generations to come.

Nayla Festa, MA, LPC:

Do you feel like raising adolescents in a culture other than what you were raised is confusing and frustrating? Sometimes adolescents and families need help navigating the thoughts that can arise with family trauma, identity confusion, and self esteem issues. And many times, if there’s trauma in the family, the adolescent experiences more stress, anxiety and depression. Maybe the strength and resilience that helped a teen survive what they were going through can be their greatest gift… Maybe it’d be good to feel a bit more resolved about those experiences, too.

I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) and multicultural professional therapist. I specialize in doing trauma work, such as EMDR, with third culture adolescents and families. My experience comes from my years of work at a child and family community mental health center. I also have years of experience from my non-profit work for kids suffering parental loss.

Its hard dealing with your thoughts on your own. You don’t have to deal with trauma and cultural, family secrets alone. I offer individual and family therapy, including parenting and group work, from a trauma-informed lens to promote healing. Reach out with your concerns if you need a safe place for you or your teen’s voice to be heard. “

Nayla will accept new client on January 2021!
